Biography
Hi everyone! My name is Sam, and I’m a pianist and teacher with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Kent. I currently teach at an international school in Bangkok and specialise in jazz and blues, while also working across pop, rock, composition, and song writing.
I have taught students of all ages and levels for several years, from complete beginners to more advanced players developing their own style. During my studies I had the privilege of learning under renowned London jazz pianist Liam Noble, whose inventive and improvisational approach continues to influence both my playing and teaching.
My lessons are flexible and student-centred, with a focus on improvisation, ear training, and learning songs that inspire each student. I also view piano playing as a form of wellbeing, encouraging students to use music for self-expression, relaxation, and creativity — an approach that can feel both therapeutic and grounding.
Whether you want to play for enjoyment, prepare for exams, or explore your own compositions, I aim to make lessons engaging, creative, and supportive. Alongside teaching, I remain active as a musician and songwriter, performing and composing across a wide range of contemporary genres.
