Matas B
Biography
From an early age, Matas showed a deep musical curiosity, beginning piano lessons at five years old and studying for ten years at the Janina Miščiukaitė School of Art in Lithuania, where he was awarded diplomas in piano, flute, classical guitar, and music theory. He later continued his studies in piano and organ with Gražina Petrauskaite at National Organ Association - Saint Gregory Music Studies in Vilnius, further strengthening his keyboard and theoretical foundation.
After winning a full scholarship to study in London, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he also developed a strong interest in the harpsichord and early music. He subsequently began postgraduate studies in Performance at the Royal College of Music before transferring to the Master’s programme in Historical Performance, which he is currently completing part-time.
Alongside performing regularly with leading period ensembles in London such as The Handel Orchestra and Brandenburg Baroque Soloists’, Matas is a committed and inspiring teacher. Drawing on a strong pianistic background and wide-ranging performance experience, he aims to build solid technical foundations while encouraging musical imagination, confidence, and genuine enjoyment at the keyboard.
