Marco Wong
Biography
Very warm greetings, I am Marco who has recently joined the team and would like to introduce myself-I’m looking forward to meeting you all!
I have learnt the piano since the age of six. My credentials are the ATCL Recital Diploma and the LTCL Recital Diploma which I received in 2015 and 2018 respectively. I am a graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London of class 2022, with a Master’s in Music (in performance). Before that in 2020, I graduated with a Bachelor(hons) in Music studies, at the Hong Kong Baptist university, majoring in piano. My piano mentors include Ms. Lotus Lam, Hong Kong composer and pianist; Ms. Po Yi Tang, Hong Kong pianist; Dr. Cherry Tsang, Hong Kong pianist; and Ms. Helen Leek, British pianist.
I have been actively participating in different Hong Kong School Music Festivals since the age of ten as such this gives me great understanding on how to fuel the interest of music for children. During my time in university, I have also participated in many events including the Chopin Marathon, further gaining relevant experiences through performances. Outside of school, I have joined different competitions in Hong Kong and have received several prizes, including the champion of HKYAPF the 8th Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival in 2020 and have placed 2nd in the 13th Asia Pacific Outstanding Youth Piano Competition in 2021.
During my time in the UK whilst studying at Royal Holloway, I was part of our distinguish Founder’s Choir and have toured around France with them. Meanwhile when I was studying in the Hong Kong Baptist University, I was part of a variety of choirs, including Hong Kong Baptist University Choir, the University Cantoria, as well as Music Office Youth Choir. Aside from piano, I have the knowledge of a secondary instrument, the violin and was part of the String Orchestra in my secondary school.
