Genoveva Johnson
Biography
Biography and Education
Genoveva Johnson started her musical journey when she was just 6 years old,
studying classical piano, theory, music history and harmony at the School
of Music and Art in Constanta in Romania, where she also sang in the
school choir. She continued to study classical piano, music theory, conducting,
composition and music pedagogy at the National University of Music in
Bucharest. Her emphasis was on music pedagogy, leading her to gain
her Music Pedagogy Bachelor's Degree.
Approach
Genoveva's aim is to inspire students to become great pianists and
musicians by helping them choose reportoire that they can fully
connect with. She is proud to be using her own unique piano method
in which she draws upon her University learning and her experience
in the UK. She does not believe that one particular piano teaching
method is good for everyone, rather, that every student is different
and tailors her lessons to suit their abilities and interests.
Experience
Genoveva loves to share her experience as a pianist with her pupils and now focuses solely on her teaching career, which is where her passion lies. She has been teaching in both schools and privately in the UK for over 10 years in areas such as Chelsea, Battersea, Clapham and Richmond, preparing students for recitals, competitions and ABRSM exams. Besides working for schools, Genoveva has also taught at a voluntary non-profit organisation in Battersea.
Current Projects
Besides teaching Genoveva is part of the Stellar Music Duo, that perform violin and piano covers of both classical and contemporary music.
Genoveva also holds a Safeguarding certifcate for Child Protection in Music Education from the tes institute.
